Why you’ll love this Beer Bread!

No yeast required. – If using yeast makes you nervous or if you don’t have time, quick breads are a great way to get fresh bread on the table.

No bread maker or fancy equipment needed. – The best part is that this requires nothing fancy to make it. All you need is a bowl, loaf pan, a dough hook or mixing spoon, (and if you don’t have a dough hook, you need one in your life) and the ingredients. It’s that simple.

It tastes amazing! – This Easy Homemade Beer Bread recipe also has it’s own flavor. It is rich in flavor, not like traditional white breads, but it doesn’t taste like beer either.

It’s crispy on the outside and tender on the inside! – The best part about this bread is the crispy buttery crust it gets from the melted butter, yet it is soft and fluffy on the inside.

Quick, did I mention quick? – You don’t need a full afternoon to make this or have to wait for a rising time, it only takes about 15 minutes to throw it together, then you just have to bake it.

What ingredients are needed to make this Easy Homemade Beer Bread?

Just like anything homemade, the best part is using real ingredients, especially with breads.

All-purpose flour – All you need is your favorite white flour. This is a great, clean flour.

Salt – This adds flavor. This is one of my favorites!

Baking Powder – This will help give the bread rise. This is a good aluminum free option.

Raw Cane Sugar/Honey – This adds just a touch of sweetness to the bread.

Beer – 12 ounces of your favorite bottle or can of beer. This is where the yeast comes into play as a leavening agent as well. Keep in mind that the alcohol evaporates during the baking process.

Butter – This is what will give your bread the golden crunchy crust. Do yourself a favor and use the real stuff too! Your taste buds will thank you!

Tools you’ll need for your recipe:

9 inch Loaf Pan – These are great and affordable and I am also a fan of glass.

Parchment Paper – This is what will help with the bread not sticking to the pan.

Large Mixing Bowl – You gotta have something to mix it up in.

Dough Hook/Wooden Spoon – Dough hooks are needed by everyone. They are amazing for whisking or mixing thicker batters.

Bread Knife – You will want a serrated knife to slice through the bread once it’s cooled… if you can wait that long.

How to make this Easy Beer Bread:

Preheat and Prep – Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and lightly grease or spray your loaf pan. I also like to line it with a piece of parchment paper to make removing it from the pan simple. And go ahead and pull out all your ingredients, you know, all six of them. We like simple around here.

Mix – Toss all your dry ingredients, including the honey if you go that route, in the bowl and mix them up. Really, there is no formal method to this. Then add in your beer slowly and mix well, making sure that the flour is completely moist.

IF you still have dry flour, you can drizzle a TINY bit of water at a time to make sure the batter is moist but it should not be wet.

You will add your beer bread batter to the prepared loaf pan and drizzle the butter over it.

Bake – Toss in the oven, well maybe set it gently, and bake for about 45 – 50 minutes. You will want to start checking around 40 minutes just to be sure. Additionally, you can always do the toothpick test but when it is golden brown on the top and the sides start to pull away, that is the sign that it is ready to go.

It’s best to let it cool, it will make it easier to slice, but if you can’t wait, go for it, just be careful of the steam in the bread when you cut into it.

FAQ:

What kind of beer is best for this bread?

Honestly, that is up to you, if you would drink it then it would work for this. Keep in mind that some of the flavor and notes from the beer will carry over to the bread.

Does the alcohol bake out in this bread?

The majority of alcohol is baked out of the bread, evaporating similar to how water will evaporate out of bread. It is similar to cooking with beer. But keep in mind, bread in general can contain a very small trace of alcohol produced from the fermenting process.

Why is my bread so dense?

Remember to not overmix it, a few clumps are better than overmixing.

Should the beer be warm or cold?

They say room temperature is best, so if you can set it out a little before you bake go for it. However, I hardly ever plan it that far in advance and have used cold beer the majority of the time and it still turns out wonderful.
