Chocolate Granola in a Bamboo Bowl

Our Chocolate Granola is one of our families’ favorites! It is crunchy, chocolatey and packs in a lot of flavor that we love! We add it to yogurt, just eat it straight or top it with milk for a healthier cereal.

Did you ever eat the cereal that turned your milk into chocolate milk? It was one of my favorites when I was little and this one does not disappoint. The kids love drinking the chocolate milk at the end of the bowl.

I am a fan of all things chocolate, and I wanted to tweak my regular granola recipe to make it into a chocolate one.

So, keeping it simple… here you go!

Why you’ll love this recipe?

Quick – This is a such an easy, throw it together and stir kind of recipe. Most of the time is hands off, while it’s in the oven.

Simple – It is a simple recipe to throw together with no complicated steps.

Quality Control – Cereal can have a lot of ingredients that are harmful to us and that our bodies can’t process well. This takes all of the worry out of it. You get to choose what goes in it and if your kids don’t like a certain kind of nut, no worries, just swap it for your favorites!

Fun for Kids – This is great to get the kids involved in. This is a great one for them to start learning in the kitchen with on their own. You really can’t mess it up. Just be sure to supervise while pulling it out of the oven to stir.

How to make Chocolate Granola…

Step 1…

Preheat your oven to 275. You want to cook this low and slow as to not burn the nuts.

Step 2…

In a large bowl combine your oats, ground flax, almonds, pecans, walnuts and salt and mix well.

Step 3…

In a smaller bowl add your melted coconut oil, coconut sugar, maple syrup, vanilla and cacao powder and mix well.

Step 4…

Pour your wet mixture over your dry mixture and mix well.

Step 5…

Spread on a baking sheet or baking pan. If you have a silicone mat, these are very helpful to make sure nothing sticks.

Step 6…

Bake at 275 for 50 minutes total. You will want to stir it throughout though so your nuts don’t burn. I set the timer for 15 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes and 10 minutes and stir each time when it goes off.

Step 7…

Remove it from the oven and let cool. It will be chewy and softer when you pull it out but it will get crunchy as it cools.

Step 8…

Add to your favorite yogurt or pour your favorite milk on it and enjoy! Or if you are like our family, little hands find their way to snack before I can pack it up.

ENJOY!!!

FAQs

How To Store?

Place in an airtight container and store in a cool, dry place.

Does This Recipe Freeze Well?

Yes, it does! A lot of times, I will make a double or triple batch and then store in freezer bags what we aren’t using. It makes for a very quick grab when needed.

Can I swap out nuts for other ones?

Definitely! This is a very easy recipe to swap out ingredients to what fits your family’s preference. The only thing is to keep the wet to dry measurement ratios pretty close so everything gets coated properly for baking. Make it your own and enjoy!
