This DIY Foaming Hand Soap – Only 2 Ingredients is one of the simplest DIYs and one of the best if you are entering into the world of making your own household products.

This is something that we use everyday. We have been able to do away with traditional store-bought hand soap completely. It is also very cost effective!

Why make your own hand soap? So glad you asked! If you have been following along, you know ingredients matter a lot to me and what our family uses. And if you are new here, ingredients matter a lot to me and what our family uses.

And if DIY isn’t your thing or you just want a quick clean option, this is another of our favorites for Foaming Hand Soap!

Our skin is our largest organ and whatever we use on it can go straight to your blood stream, so it is very important to know what we are using.

It is also important to know that not all of the bacteria on our hands are bad. When we use harsh chemicals to strip our hands clean of everything, we are also taking away all of the good bacteria that our body needs to use for our defense system. It’s important to be cautious of the soaps that we use.

This soap is gentle and cleansing. It only contains, Castille soap, water and essential oils if you should choose. That’s it. Super simple.

How it works?

It’s quite simple. You mix it together and then set it out; that’s it.

It is gentle enough on the hands while effective on cleansing. This DIY is also a fun one to have the kiddos help out with too!

Let’s talk about the ingredients in this DIY Foaming Hand Soap – Only 2 Ingredients!

Castille Soap

Castille soap has a range of benefits due to the natural, plant-based origins of it. It is more gentle to the skin, it is an effective cleanser for both the body and home, it is biodegradable and non-toxic. Castille soap is also suitable for those with sensitive skin. This makes it a safer, versatile and eco-friendly alternative to conventional soaps. A little goes a long way too as most options for purchasing come in a concentrated bottle.

Water

This is used to thin out the Castille Soap and make it work with the foaming hand pump.

Essential Oils

Essential oils are one of my favorite things about this soap. You can choose to omit them and the soap will work just perfect still. The benefits of the different essential oils are amazing for the body and this is such an easy way to get them on your skin and into the body.

Some of my favorite essential oils…

I like to keep things simple but I love using and mixing oils together to add to our foaming hand soaps based on the seasons we are in or just the scent I am wanting.

It is truly up to your personal preference though. So use what you like based on purpose or just smells in general. Using good quality essential oils benefits the body in many different ways.

Thieves

This is a blend from Young Living and it is a blend specifically created for Immune Support. It is a great option to add in if you are wanting to specifically support the immune system.

Tea Tree

This oil has many cleansing properties and can also help to purify the air.

Lavender

This is a very popular option. It is perfect for sensitive skin, cleanses and also has a very calming effect on most people.

Lemon

This oil is amazing for cleaning, especially sticky or greasy residue. The smell is clean and fresh and it is a great option for the kitchen!

Orange

Another oil with a clean citrusy smell that also packs a punch with cleansing properties.

Peppermint

Peppermint is just a favorite. It is soothing to the joints, cooling and fresh.

How to make the DIY Foaming Hand Soap – Only 2 Ingredients…

Step 1

Gather your supplies.

Step 2

Add your Castille Soap directly into your foaming hand soap dispenser.

Step 3

Add in your essential oils if you are choosing to use them.

Step 4

Very slowly fill the foaming hand soap dispenser the rest of the way with warm water. Make sure to not over fill. The foaming hand soap pumps will have the larger insert on the pump to create the foam. Be sure to take that into account. When you screw the top on, if you overfill it, it will overflow your bottle.

Step 5

Make sure the lid is screwed on tight and gently tip the bottle back and forth to mix the ingredients all together.

Step 6

Then just use as needed!

FAQs…

Do I have to use essential oils?

Of course not, it is completely up to you. While they provide benefits, the soap will still clean amazingly on its own.

Is Foaming Hand Soap really effective?

Yes, it still cleans effectively, while allowing you to use less than traditional hand soaps.

Will this soap leave a filmy residue on my hands?

Not at all, that is one of my favorite things about it. It spreads great, rubs in gently and rinses easily without much effort.

What are some of the best ways to store this Foaming Hand Soap?

These are a few of my tried and true favorite foaming hand pumps that we have used.

These are the oils our family has used for years (and that we know are safe for the uses mentioned above).

I am not a doctor. I am just a Mama who loves finding natural options for her family. My education on oils is how our family has used these over the years and the benefits we have seen. You are the gatekeeper of your home and know your family so please keep that in mind while following us on this journey. Also, when speaking about essential oils, we use Young Living in our family and have for over seven years. These are the oils that I have researched and feel comfortable with for our family. Not all oils are created equal.
